Necromancer: field notes
Soul magic, undead summons and bound creatures.

The vocation in a hunt
Summons are part of the vocation’s identity. Soul resources, undead companions and creature binding provide more decisions than repeating a basic ranged attack.
Equipment and resources
The off-hand focus and summoning attributes belong in equipment comparisons. Pet damage shares the level-gap combat rules; extra summons do not bypass an overlevelled enemy’s protection.
A useful first comparison
Start with a familiar hunting area and change one part of the build at a time. Review kills, resource use and survival. The skill tree and class-compatible equipment offer decisions, but a larger number alone does not establish a stronger overall routine.
An army has costs
Kills supply souls, and raising undead requires both souls and available army capacity. Training and doctrines shape that army. The ordinary combat summons have no short timed expiry, while the reaper is temporary. This creates a distinction between maintaining the main companions and choosing when to use the temporary reinforcement.
Binding is earned by species
Creature binding does not convert every monster in the world. The available bonds include wolf, spider, beetle and golem, with level, species-kill and essence requirements. Inspect the intended bond before spending resources. A stronger army still shares the enemy level-gap rules: many companions do not erase the danger of a much higher-level target.
