The door, and what is on the other side of it

The story begins in a bedroom you recognise, in a world you do not.

Someone wakes up in their own bed. The room is the same: the desk, the bookshelf, the plant that needed watering. The street is gone. Where it should be, a forest presses against the walls, and something moves between the trees.

They go looking for other people. The first thing they find is a creature. Getting home, it becomes clear, will take more than finding the road.

What the journal will and will not say

Wake of Ages keeps its mystery inside the game. The opening, the sign-up and these pages do not reveal where the world is, how much time has passed or why the awakening happened. The clues are physical: writing that looks familiar, materials no mason recognises, a red light blinking on a floor nobody can reach.

What we can say: the residents of the Vigil have a fire lit. Ena keeps the plates with letters on them. Orin says mysteries make you hungry. Beyond the grove, ten regions rise from level 1 to level 120 and beyond, each with a named guardian, and the hunters have a word, Eclipse, for the days when old trails become dangerous again.

Death is real and so is the return. Nobody in the game knows why yet.
