A sound for every strike
New combat recordings distinguish bows, blades, claws and each school's magic.
Combat now uses 29 short, edited sound effects: bow releases and arrow impacts, blades, daggers, heavy metal strikes, fire, ice, roots, lightning, dark summoning, holy magic, rift spells and alchemical bubbles. The Druid's werewolf form has a separate claw attack.
Basic attacks, spell casts and impacts have different cues. Distance and direction shape the impact sound, while repeated summon and damage-over-time hits remain quieter. Weapon variations reduce identical repetitions.
The new recordings total about 235 KB. They load from the game's own assets after sound is enabled, with the current vocation's basic attack first, and are decoded once. Combat never waits for an external sound service or plays a missed effect later.
Test sound now previews the current vocation's basic attack. Mute, channel volume controls, background silence and the limit on simultaneous effects remain in place. Music and environmental ambience retain their existing recordings.
